Blogoversy Giveaway

I don't remember the exact date when I started this blog, but it was sometime around the middle of March in 2011, so Christina Reads YA is now ~ 2 years old. To celebrate this, I am giving away my ARC of Siege and Storm (Shadow and Bone #2) by Leigh Bardugo. You can read my initial impressions of Siege and Storm here. I will be posting my review sometime in the future. I hope that the winner will enjoy this book as much as I have and help promote it with me :).

Open internationally!
I reserve the right to disqualify entries that are breaking the rules (i.e. changing the tweet or creating multiple accounts to enter the giveaway). Thank you.

Siege and Storm (Shadow and Bone #2) by Leigh Bardugo
Release Date: June 4, 2013
Published by: Henry Holt

Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she can't outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling's game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

  4. I adored SHADOW AND BONE and read the preview of SIEGE AND STORM online (1st 25pp) and now all I have left are my tears to walk in until the June release, unless I'm fortunate enough to win this ARC. Then I'll gobble it up and write a review and post it. Thank you for the opportunity. *returns to inconsolable sobs*

  5. I am so excited for this book!!! Thanks for giving it away! I am so excited to see what new elements the author brings in and to see more of Alina and Mal's relationship. The mention of a privateer is really intriguing to me because I always like reading about pirates/ sea explorers.

    ReplyDelete
  6. S&S packs a lot, lot of feels too, so don't count on not having tears when you read it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  7. For sure, Alina/Mal gets developed more, and I have yet to read about a disappointing pirate/sea explorer :).

  22. I freaking LOVE Shadow and Bone. I've read it a week ago and I was blown away by the story and the characters. I would love to see more of The Darkling of course :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thank you! And yes, ahhh!!! So glad you loved S&B. I hope you will love S&S just as much :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I went totally fangirl over Shadow and Bone and I think that Leigh is just the sweetest. So I can't wait to see what she does in another book. Plus, I the Darkling is my book boyfriend and I have been seriously missing him. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. She is really sweet & is now on my auto-buy list. PSH, Darkling is on MY book boyfriend list too, you best be ready to share ;).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok, fine! I'll share...maybe. :-) She is on my auto-buy list too. Shadow and Bone is my one my favorite reads ever. Thanks for the giveaway

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've read Shadow and Bone and loved it! I really want to see another confrontation with the Darkling!

    Thanks,
    Leanne

    ReplyDelete
  28. :) :) YAY, more love for S&B!! I hope you enjoy S&S as well~

    ReplyDelete
  29. The story is just amazing, so that's what I'm excited about. I know it'll be a journey filled with emotions.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Shadow and Bone was my favorite book read of 2012! I loathe love triangles but I'm hoping to see more of both Mal and the Darkling. Ironic, I realize. I also hope Alina will finely tune her "skills"...

    ReplyDelete
  31. I really enjoyed Shadow & Bone, especially the setting Bardugo chooses. Russia may still be European, but it's not "Western European" as is usually used in fantasies.

In Siege & Storm, I want MORE MAL. That's all.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Happy Blogoversary! I'm anxiously waiting for S&S, I'm in love with this trilogy. Thank you for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  33. What's I am excted about the book is actually the Darkling's POV. Because everybody have their own different views on the story that is going on in the story. Though, he may appear like a villian but what he's thinking is more interesting to me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you! And I'm also in love with the trilogy. Magawds, a whole another year too, for Ruin & Rising :O.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't like love triangles either, but this one feels less like a love triangle, and Mal and the Darkling are both fully fleshed out characters who you could root for either way the series turns so :). Psh, love triangle. YAY for S&B being a fave!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mal, oh Mal. Well, then... :)

And yes, I believe I read somewhere too, that the stories in the Grisha trilogy are inspired by fairy tales in Russian folklore, which I didn't know. Interesting for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Do you think that you will get his POV? Or do you just want to understand it better?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I still haven't read the first one, but everyone I know loved it and it sounds like something I'd enjoy. I plan to read it soon and I'd love to have the second one ready so I can get right to it after that. Thanks for the giveaway! Especially for making it international :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I hope you enjoy S&B :). It would be really nice to read S&S & S&B back to back!

    ReplyDelete
  40. For me, her world building was amazeballs, so I really want to learn more about this place and the different aspects of the culture. Of course having more Mal in it wouldn't hurt ; ) On of my favorite 2012 books for sure! Thanks for the giveaway, and Happy Blogoversary!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Her world building stays amazeballs... And Mal. *Sigh.* Well, I hope you enjoy S&S as much as you did S&B, and thank you :)!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am really hoping Leigh Bardugo will provide a small section of the Darkling's POV. Afterall, he's acting a bit mysterious in Shadow and Bone. I have a bit of mixed feelings because he's a villian but it seemed like he wanted to help the country although he wanted to take the position himself. )=. I guess it's more of understand him better. =)

    ReplyDelete
  43. He is a fascinating character, but I do think that since the series is focused on Alina, we probs won't be seeing his POV... maybe in fanfics or a special edition thing (i.e. YA sisterhood crush tourney or a fundraiser type). (How awesome would it be if she wrote from his POV? *sigh*)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I want to see how this love triangle pans out! Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Blogversary!!!!
    -Cali W.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks for the giveaway! I hope to read more of the Darkling.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Shadow and Bone was my favorite book of 2012. I hope that we see more of the Darkling and the awesome Grisha powers!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you, Cali :). Did you also comment above / it wasn't working or?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Haha, the Darkling is such a huge draw for a lot of people :). I love that... and him :D. He must be shared between us all!!!
(PS - did you comment below?)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes and yes!! Grisha powers and Grisha tales. I love her world building, and I hope you'll enjoy S&S as much as I did :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm excited to start reading this series! Looks dark but great! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I really can't wait for Siege and Storm to come out. I miss the characters so much!

    ReplyDelete
  52. And soon you'll have new characters to miss :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I agree!!! Only Leigh Bardugo would know perfectly Darkling's POV. Laughs. I guess I would have to search for awesome fan fictions from people who are willing to write his POVs after finishing the trilogy then. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  54. the beauty of fan fiction. :)
but maybe we can also convince Leigh....

    ReplyDelete
  55. I really want to find out more about the Darkling... consider me intrigued.

    ReplyDelete
  56. yey, go Darkling :). Lots of intrigue with him!

    ReplyDelete
  57. This series is fantastic. I'm fascinated by the way the author shows that Alina is connected to both The Darkling and Mal without making it seem like a love triangle. Well done!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Haha, you're one of the few in this comment thread who thinks it's not a love triangle. But I agree: I love the dynamics of the trio :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I did comment but I think it got deleted or screwed up, so I just commented again. I can't find the old comment anyways. oh well! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Maybe it was because I changed my picture; it's a mystery!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Pray that some fans have the same mindset as we do. Then there might be a shard of hope for the darkling. Laughs.

    ReplyDelete
  62. no I can see this one just not the first one I did.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I want the Darkling to find them!! I'm sorry but I don't want Mal and Alina together lol :) I believe he can be reformed (or not ;) )

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thank you! lol and do you want to reform him? :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Well, that may be because I've read both S & B and S & S (I got to borrow the ARC of S & S and had to give it back which is why I am entering) I definitely thought some VERY interesting things happened in the romance department in the second book. A friend and I have been exchanging long emails about it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I want to join in on these emails. YES some interesting things happened there. Both expected and unexpected.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Okay will email you with my thoughts tonight. Glad to have someone to discuss this with...

    ReplyDelete
  68. Loved, loved, LOVED S&B. I want to see Alina's powers explored more and I'm hoping to see more of what the Darkling intends for her. He is such an intriguing character. And this talk of forbidden magic? Yes, please! :D

    Congrats on the milestone! =)

    ReplyDelete
  69. The forbidden magic is definitely interesting, and I loved discovering how that and Alina's powers were developed. I definitely do not think you will disappointed in that regard :). YAY FOR LOVING S&B!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love the storyline. I want to know more about the Darkling. I don't know whether to hate or like him!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am also interested to see what happens with Darkling. I haven't made up my mind about him.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I LOVED Shadow and Bone! I want to learn more about the Darkling, and his history. Also, I'm really excited for Siege and Storm because of Mal and Alina's relationship. They're so perfect. I just finished a sneak preview for Siege and Storm and I can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I hope they get that stupid collar off. And the Darkling dies. :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. LOL. First time anyone has written that (here)... hating on the Darkling. interesting :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yay!!! Mal/Alina definitely get page time, and I hope you enjoy S&S :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. True, true. I think that's the hardest part.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I haven't read the first book, but with the second I will buy the first. So many good things I've hear about this series.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yay!!! It is fantastic and I hope you enjoy S&B when you get it :D

    ReplyDelete
  79. I am also yet to read the first book, I would like to win this book for my daughter as she loved Bk#1 and still goes on and on at me to read Bk1 soon! ~ Jeanz of JeanzBookReadNReview (I haven't put a link to my blog as I don't like presuming that you won't mind or spamming but hope you will perhaps drop by my blog for a look and see if theres anything you like. I also have a great YA Giveawy coming up)

    ReplyDelete
  80. I loved the first one and have been waiting for the sequel! I hope there is plenty of drama!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Happy blogoversary! I'm reading Shadow and Bone right now, so I have no idea what I want to happen. I just want it to be a series where the second book is just as exciting and amazing as the first one. Thanks for the giveaway~

    ReplyDelete
  82. I hope to see more of the Darkling and find out more about Alina's powers =)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Everything about this book excites me. What are Mal & Alina going to do now? The Darkling... THE DARKLING?! <-- "ARGH!" of frustration!

    Thanks Christina! :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm really excited to see how this one continues, as I was a little perplexed by the ending of the first book. BUT I LOVED the first book (Mal! The Darkling! Too confused!) and really looking forward to it :D Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hey, Jeanz! I really like your blog background. It's beautiful :)
And it sounds like you haven't read book 1 yet so I WILL get on you about that too ;)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh, don't you worry. Loads of drama in this sequel. Hope you enjoy S&S :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. It is!!! This is a great sequel and I hope you enjoy/are enjoying S&B! :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Then, Emily, this sequel will make you happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. :) he can definitely be frustrating. I hope you enjoy S&S~~

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yessss, the conflicted feelings. Those continue. For me, at least :D. I hope you enjoy S&S~

    ReplyDelete
  91. I am so excited for this book. S&B was one of my top picks in 2012, and Alina is such an awesome protagonist. I hope she grows into her powers (and as a person) even more in S&S. I hope to see more of the Darkling so I can fully for my opinion about him, haha. He's very complex and I love that, he's not just a cliché villain.

Thanks for this giveaway! And I wonder – my twitter account is locked, does that matter? I'll still tweet/follow, but I don't know if it shows up properly?

    ReplyDelete
  92. It should show up even if you're locked, just because you're mentioning me in the giveaway tweet. :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm really excited to read more of Darkling to be honest, even though he's twisted and pretentious and stuff I still love him! I'm on team good side though, just can't help but admire the bad boys :P

    ReplyDelete
  94. I loved Shadow and Bone and I'm dying to read Siege and Storm. I really, really want to find out what happens to Darkling, Alina and Mal. I was totally crushed when Darkling turned out to be evil in S.B. I hope he can redeem himself in the 2nd book. If not, I'll still love him. I'm also excited to see how Alina grows as a character and how she will use her power as the sun summoner. And Genya! I really, really hope Alina and Genya can be friends again. :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Shadow and Bone was for me without any shadow of a doubt the best book I've read last year, so to say that I'm excited for this one would be an understatement. In this one I hope to find out more about Alina's powers, how she copes with them and Alina and Mal's plans.
Also, since I'm not a fan of the Darkling, I hope someone kicks his arrogant ass. LOL!
    Thanks for a giveaway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Psh, I don't think anyone has said they dislike the Darkling despite him being twisted ;).

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yayy!!! Well, I hope that you are pleased with what you find in S&S :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. ME TOO. Loved S&B and so was SO excited for this one. Lol!!! I think you may be in the minority on the Darkling ;)

    ReplyDelete
  99. I loved the first book with its gorgeous writing and world-building. I'm so excited to see how Alina develops as a character (and see what the extent of her powers are) and to better understand The Darkling, since he was such an enigma in the first book.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I want to see more development of Mal and what else Alina can do now that she has the amplifier. I didn't except to love Shadow and Bone, like I did, I have never been a fan of Fantasy but this series has me hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yes, to both Alina and the Darkling!! Hope you enjoy S&S :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Isn't that the best feeling? When a book manages to make you like a genre you generally dislike? *sigh* hope you enjoy S&S :)!!!
