My name is Christina Bejjani, and here's a quick FAQ section:

Q: Is it true that you're majoring in neuroscience?

Yes, it is. My plan is to work in a lab for a year or two after graduation, then apply to graduate school in neuroscience or psychology. From there I hope to either become a professor or to work in a science advocacy related field.

Q: What's up with the YA lit blog then?

YA lit is the majority of what I read. Why not post my opinions?

I'm also a writer, so I'm hoping to publish a book one day, and this blog is my way of getting involved in the community. I think that the mistake here is the assumption that I can't be a fiction writer and a scientist. I think that one of the ways to bridge the gap between the humanities and science is to encourage people who have their hands in both areas (*ahem*).

If you have issues with YA specifically, read this blog post.

Q: You're Lebanese-AmericanHave you ever been to Lebanon?

YES. Three times: once when I was really young; once in the summer of 2008; and again in the summer of 2010. It is gorgeous. One day, I will share my experience of it with you. I am so lucky and so proud to be a dual citizen of Lebanon & the US.

Q: You have devil eyes.

Thank you, Leah.

What I look for in books:

I'll read almost anything. Actually, scratch that. The women have to be strong, in whatever way that is available for their time period. (This is probably discriminatory on my part, but I like reading from a female perspective more than a male one, usually, and I do not like "weak" male characters either.)  There are some books on my favorites shelf that I loved when I first read them, but I'm not sure how I feel about them now. Figured I'd keep them there for the time being.

(YA) Authors whose work (I think) I will always love: Kristin Cashore, Laini Taylor, J.K. Rowling, Veronica Roth, Jane Austen, Stephanie Perkins, Maggie Stiefvater, Leigh Bardugo, Richelle Mead, Sarah Dessen, and Gayle Forman. Other authors: Meredith Duran, Courtney Milan, Karen Marie Moning, and Sherry Thomas. I tend to gravitate toward (almost all genres of) YA, urban fantasy, and romance, but those are not my only reading interests.

More about me:

I am an INFP (or INFJ) in Myers-Briggs.
