In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by The Story Siren, and we bloggers share what books we have either received or purchased that week.
Changing things up a bit just 'cause I felt the need to post the covers of The Water Wars & Entwined -- they're too beautiful not to share :D.
The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher (Amazon)
Welcome to a future where water is more precious than gold or oil-and worth killing for.
Vera and her brother, Will, live in the shadow of the Great Panic, in a country that has collapsed from environmental catastrophe. Water is hoarded by governments, rivers are dammed, and clouds are sucked from the sky. But then Vera befriends Kai, who seems to have limitless access to fresh water. When Kai suddenly disappears, Vera and Will set off on a dangerous journey in search of him-pursued by pirates, a paramilitary group, and greedy corporations. Timely and eerily familiar, acclaimed author Cameron Stracher makes a stunning YA debut that's impossible to forget.
Entwined by Heather Dixon (Amazon)
Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it's taken away. All of it.
The Keeper understands. He's trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.
Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.
But there is a cost.
The Keeper likes to keep things.
Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.
Bones of Faerie by Janni Lee Simner (Amazon)
The war between humanity and Faerie devastated both sides. Or so 15-year-old Liza has been told. Nothing has been seen or heard from Faerie since, and Liza’s world bears the scars of its encounter with magic. Trees move with sinister intention, and the town Liza calls home is surrounded by a forest that threatens to harm all those who wander into it. Then Liza discovers she has the Faerie ability to see—into the past, into the future—and she has no choice but to flee her town. Liza’s quest will take her into Faerie and back again, and what she finds along the way may be the key to healing both worlds.
Janni Lee Simner’s first novel for young adults is a dark fairy-tale twist on apocalyptic fiction—as familiar as a nightmare, yet altogether unique.
The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan (Amazon)
Nick and his brother, Alan, have spent their lives on the run from magic. Their father was murdered, and their mother was driven mad by magicians and the demons who give them power. The magicians are hunting the Ryves family for a charm that Nick's mother stole -- a charm that keeps her alive -- and they want it badly enough to kill again.
Danger draws even closer when a brother and sister come to the Ryves family for help. The boy wears a demon's mark, a sign of death that almost nothing can erase...and when Alan also gets marked by a demon, Nick is desperate to save him. The only way to do that is to kill one of the magicians they have been hiding from for so long.
Ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Nick starts to suspect that his brother is telling him lie after lie about their past. As the magicians' Circle closes in on their family, Nick uncovers the secret that could destroy them all.
This is the Demon's Lexicon. Turn the page.
I wish I could have a day off from college. With last week's mailbox and this week's, I still have plenty to read and always seem to have a pile waiting, unread, tempting and taunting me. Blah! (Yes, I'm complaining about having too many good books to read :D).

ReplyDelete@Kristina - really?! Hmm, I don't usually like the idea of e-reading in general, but I may have to make an exception this time :D. Thanks for telling me!
ReplyDeleteHi - Thank you for your very nice comment on my IMM :D :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the new Jane Eyre film, I live in Sweden and they don't seem to show it in any cinema near me, which is a shame really as I was really looking forward to seeing it. Can't wait until it's out on dvd/blu-ray so I can watch it too :).
I haven't gotten around to reading Entwined yet, but I hope I'll like it. Looking forward to see what you thought about it!
Yeah, I'm also glad I'm better ( I was almost blind in my left eye and the pain was almost unbearable).
I wish you a nice second half of the week with lots of awesome books/reading.
