My Most Anticipated of 2012 PART IV

The last of the "most anticipated" series of posts!

Release Date: May 1, 2012

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and she is working with Klea to conquer and destroy Avalon. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares for a fight she never thought she would have to face.

Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless.
  • Sometimes Laurel has annoyed me, but I want to know what happens to Avalon, what the final battle will be like, and what Laurel will choose for her future. I like the concept of faeries as plants.
3. Endlessly (Paranormalcy #3) by Kiersten White

Release Date: July 24, 2012

Try as she might, Evie can’t seem to escape her not-so-normal past. And what was supposed to be a blissfully normal school break is ruined when a massive group of paranormals shows up at her house, claiming that Evie is the only one who can protect them from a mysterious, perilous fate.

The deadly war between the faerie courts looms ever closer. The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its future rests solely in Evie’s hands.

So much for normal.

With a perfect blend of humor and suspense, Endlessly is everything readers could dream of in a conclusion—and the unexpected twists will keep them guessing until the very last page.
  • Jack and Reth and Evie and Lend and all the wonderful characters--can't wait to find out what happens to them.  I wonder what new paranormal creatures Kiersten White will introduce us to as well.
3. Spell Bound (Hex Hall #3) by Rachel Hawkins
Release Date: March 13, 2012

Hailed as “impossible to put down,” the Hex Hall series has both critics and teens cheering. With a winning combination of romance, action, magic and humor, this third volume will leave readers enchanted.

Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.

Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?

  • Okay, so Rachel Hawkins has a penchant for cliffhanger endings. I want to know what happened to Sophie... and why she's holding a sword in her hand!
4. Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
Release Date: November 1, 2012

In Clockwork Princess, Tessa and her companions travel all over the world as they race to stop the clockwork army before it's too late. As Jem's health worsens alarmingly and his friends search desperately for a cure, can Tessa choose between the two boys she loves — even if it means never seeing the other one again?
  • So... Clockwork Prince was a huuuuge set-up for this book... which means that this book has a lot of ground to cover and I'm anticipating a lot of conflict and tension  and ah!  I can't wait to see what happens.
5. Caster Chronicles #4 by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Release Date: unlisted, 2012
  • I'm really, really far behind on this series. I have Beautiful Darkness and Beautiful Chaos but I haven't read either, and with the movie news, I need to get on that... especially so that I can get excited for this book.
6. Rapture (Fallen #4) by Lauren Kate
Release Date: June 12, 2012

The sky is dark with wings . . . .

Like sand in an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again.

Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen.

For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now will be the only one that truly matters.

In the fight for Luce, who will win?

The astonishing conclusion to the FALLEN series. Heaven can’t wait any longer.
  • I kind of hate myself for wanting to know what happens in this series. I've criticized it for so long, and I'm probably going to be writing an essay for a class about how terrible a message it sends out, but it's just one of those series to which I need the ending.
7. Hidden (Firelight #3) by Sophie Jordan
Release Date: September, 2012

Jacinda was supposed to bond with Cassian, the "prince" of their pride. But she resisted long before she fell in love with Will—a human and, worse, a hunter. When she ran away with Will, it ended in disaster, with Cassian's sister, Miram, captured. Weighed down by guilt, Jacinda knows she must rescue her to set things right. Yet to do so she will have to venture deep into the heart of enemy territory.

The only way Jacinda can reach Miram is by posing as a prisoner herself, though once she assumes that disguise, things quickly spiral out of her control. As she learns more about her captors, she realizes that even if Will and Cassian can carry out their part of the plan, there's no guarantee they'll all make it out alive. But what Jacinda never could have foreseen is that escaping would be only the beginning....

Loyalties are tested and sacrifices made in the explosive conclusion to Sophie Jordan's Firelight trilogy.

  • Sophie Jordan knows how to build up the suspense.  Honestly, I don't care a lot about the characters; it's mostly the world building and the writing that make me want to read more.
8. Bitterblue (Seven Kingdoms #3) by Kristin Cashore
Release Date: May 1, 2012

Eight years after Graceling, Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck’s reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle—disguised and alone—to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past. Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck’s reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn’t yet identified, holds a key to her heart.
  • Two words: KRISTIN CASHORE.  That's all.

9. Reached (Matched #3) by Ally Condie
Release Date: November 13, 2012
  • Yep. I want to see what happens to the Society.
10. Finale (Hush, Hush #4) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Release Date: October 13, 2012

Nora is more certain than ever that she is in love with Patch. Fallen angel or no, he is the one for her. Her heritage and destiny may mean that they will always be enemies, but there is no turning her back on him. But now they face their biggest challenge. Can their love survive a seemingly insurmountable divide? And in the end, will there be enough trust left to rebuild what has been broken? The lines are drawn - but which sides are they on?
  • I briefly skimmed the first chapter that was printed in the Crescendo paperback while I was in Wallmart and ah!  I want to find out what Patch is up to.
11. The Goddess Inheritance (Goddess Test #3) by Aimee Carter
Release Date: October, 2012
  • Okay so I read the second book (and the review will be up sometime next week) and AHAHGAOMG. The ending.  Need the third book noaaww.

Which books are you anticipating in 2012?  Any series endings that are going to make you sad/angry/happy/etc.?
