Giveaway: The Midnight Queen - Sylvia Izzo Hunter

One of my blogging friends, Mel from the Daily Prophecy, loves Juliet Marillier's books, so after reading the absolutely wonderful synopsis of The Midnight Queen and the lovely blurb from Marillier herself, I knew that I wanted to participate in promotional material for Sylvia Izzo Hunter's debut title. I hope that y'all are as excited for this book as I am -- doesn't it sound great?! All of my favorite things too: romance, historical setting, particularly Regency England, a magical oriented fantasy.... *sigh*

The Midnight Queen - Sylvia Izzo Hunter | Goodreads
Release Date: September 2, 2014
Published by: Ace Trade

Gray Marshall and his friends from Oxford’s Merlin College, a school for magic theory and practice, went out into town around midnight when carelessness and drunk townspeople strike, resulting in a dead student. Suspended from the College that summer, Gray is under the watchful eye of the domineering Professor Callender. Until one afternoon, while working in the professor’s garden, he meets his daughter.

Sophie Callender wants nothing more than to be educated in magic, even if being a female student is unheard of in the community. But secretly, against her father and society’s wishes, she has spent countless lonely hours studying the ancient volumes on the subject.

Now, with the arrival of the lanky, tall, and yet oddly charming Gray, she finally finds someone who can encourage her interest and awaken new ideas and feelings. Between them, they forge a beautiful and touching relationship that sets off a series of events that begin to unravel secrets about one another.

Perfect for fans of young adult fiction, readers can explore the relationship between Gray and Sophie, THE MIDNIGHT QUEEN is a historical fantasy that perfectly blends magic with Regency England.

Sylvia Izzo Hunter was born in Calgary, Alberta, but now lives in Toronto with her husband, daughter, and their slightly out-of-control collections of books, comics, and DVDs.

“The Midnight Queen is elegantly written, fast-paced and highly original – a stunning story of magic, scholarship, and true love. Sylvia Izzo Hunter brings both rural Brittany and an alternative Regency England to vivid life. A remarkably assured debut.”
—Juliet Marillier, National Bestselling Author of the Sevenwaters Novels

“Hunter does a splendid job of confounding my expectations [and] …The Midnight Queen keeps taking fresh turns. A fresh and inventive historical novel…I can’t wait to see what Sylvia Izzo Hunter does next.”
—Marie Brennan, author of The Memoirs of Lady Trent
